You are going to need some compression, some valve clearance, and plenty of strength.
We stock these to suit up to a 13:1 compression ratio. (we can supply them in any ratio you like)
The key to running lots of compression, boost and timing is the combustion chamber shape. The dome on our 1GZ forged pistons are designed to fit tight up in to the combustion chamber of the cylinder head and squish band. This forces the fuel/air and flame into the centre of the chamber and piston, which allows us to control the flame front much more accurately.
Modern multi valve engines have really good combustion chamber shapes and valve angles, when we design our forged pistons we make sure to capitalize on it.
As an example, our own in-house built 1GZ's run these same pistons in our NA motors at 13:1, and in our boosted engine at 12.2:1 @ 12 psi (that's our 1,200hp, 10,000rpm engine) and we have never had a piston fail or melt.
